The dumps of the Kentucky Tunnel

This tunnel was started by the Wolverine & Arizona Mining Company in 1922. 1,514ft. of crosscut was driven then a 200ft. winze was sunk and a 200 level was started. 1,131 ft. of further work was completed on the property. Operations ended around 1928. No significant ore is believed to have been mined. During the 1990s, the tunnel was found to be covered over and microscopic crystals of mimetite could be found on the on the dump. The mine is located west of the Wolverine #1 Shaft beneath the large limestone cliffs and can be located by its substantial dump.
